Infes Tech and Infes, which are a part of Infes Group, have signed an agreement to modernize the infrastructure at Nemenčinė Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project adds to the group’s portfolio of complex engineering infrastructure, technology and nationally significant security-related projects.

The project will involve construction, reconstruction and demolition works, as well as the installation of new process structures, a bioreactor, engineering networks, electrotechnical and automation systems, security and alarm systems, and other infrastructure. A 1 MW solar power plant with an energy storage system will also be installed.

As part of the modernization, the treatment plant will be equipped with technology for removing nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, ensuring compliance with stricter environmental requirements coming into force in 2028. This will mark an important step towards more efficient wastewater treatment and more sustainable infrastructure.

Infes, which is contributing to the project, is a NATO partner. The company believes this experience is particularly valuable when delivering projects in critical infrastructure, energy, water management, industrial and other high-trust sectors.

According to Arvydas Markevičius, CEO of Infes, and Mantas Ručinskas, Head of Infes Tech, the project will require not only a high level of technical expertise but also exceptionally careful planning and coordination. One of the key challenges is that all works will be carried out at a facility that operates around the clock. Construction and modernization activities will therefore have to be carefully coordinated to ensure the wastewater treatment facilities continue operating without interruption.
